Congratulations to Zainab on the successful defense of her Honors Thesis! Her research explored the moderating role of family cohesion on mental health outcomes following community violence exposure among rural Mexican adults. By focusing on an understudied population, her work makes an important contribution to the literature on trauma and resilience, especially within non-Western, rural contexts. Her findings underscore the protective potential of close family bonds in the face of adversity, and have meaningful implications for culturally informed mental health interventions in underserved communities. A huge accomplishment and a powerful piece of research—well done!
