SEVERE

Student Exposure to ViolencE and ResiliencE (SEVERE) Study will recruit 250 college students from the University of Pittsburgh to participate in an online survey assessing victimization rates and mental health to capture the types of violence that students in Pittsburgh experience and its effects. 

The purpose of this study is to capture the types of violence that college students in Pittsburgh experience and its effects. Student Exposure to Violence and Resilience (SEVERE) Study will recruit 250 college students from the University of Pittsburgh to participate in an online survey assessing victimization rates and mental health. More specifically, SEVERE will:  

1. Investigate the rates of community violence exposure and dating violence experiences among Pittsburgh university students;   

2. Assess the impact of these experiences on the academic functioning (e.g., GPA) of Pittsburgh university students;   

3. Assess the impact of these experiences on the psychological functioning (e.g., PTSD and anxiety symptoms) of Pittsburgh university students
